The City Council Meets on Tuesday!

The school started on Monday of this week (Sep 2–it’s always the first week day in September) and so life here has started once again. For example, all summer long I enjoyed empty streets on my way to work. On Monday we had traffic jams.

Finance Committee Recommends Sale of Property

The beginning of the school year also kickstarted the purchase of the school property you see above. We found out that the city’s Finance Committee recommended the direct sale of the property to our congregation for 900,000 EUR ($1.2 M).

This move by the finance committee sets in motion a series of important events that we would like to ask you to pray for.

Please pray for the city council meeting that takes place next Tuesday and at which they will vote on the Finance Committee’s recommendation.

Did I mention it’s going to cost $1.2M? That’s a huge financial commitment and so we’d like to ask you to pray for four specific aspects. First, the church needs to sell the house we are currently living in. Second, we need to sell another piece of property that has been donated to our congregation. Third, we need to increase the rent paid by current renters and we need them to stay! And fourth, Narnia is going to have to pay twice the rent it is currently paying for the space.

We have to move! We have signed a lease on a new apartment. We hope this is temporary but events in the summer took us back to square one in our search for property or a house.
