That’s right, we’ve gone from “Crafty Compton” to “Sweet Swingle.”
We have a new document assistant at TEDS and a new document assistant means changes to our dissertation and research paper template. You can download the latest version in the same place as always (https://www.toddjana.com/dissertation-template-download/
Important! Do Not Try to Update a Document in Progress
Please note, if you are in the middle of your dissertation or other research project, do not try to update your file by putting it in a new template. I’m not sure of any good way to simply update a document to the new template. As far as I know, you must make all the changes that I made when I updated the template. That’s the bad news. The good news is…
The Dissertation Cliff
Ever since the elections everyone’s talking about the fiscal cliff. So we all know the economic dangers facing us in the new year. But did you know there is also such a thing as a dissertation cliff?
I didn’t. And I fell right off of it.
What in the Wordle?
I’m a big fan of Wordles. Wordles are graphic representations of the frequency of words in any text (on a web page or in a document). The graphic above is a Wordle of my entire dissertation. Larger words appear more frequently than smaller words. You can actually get an idea of what my dissertation is like by looking over the Wordle. Click on the graphic above to view a larger version of the final Wordle or click through to see a gallery of all my dissertation Wordles.
There are a few people in this world–you find your whackos everywhere–that have said they would like to read my dissertation. So for those few people, most of them classmates from Trinity who have either a professional interest or a kind heart, I am including a link to The Righteousness and Survival of the Seed in all of its expansively condensed glory.
Click through to read the abstract or find out where you can get more of that Genesis goodness. Oh, and click here to see my gallery of Wordles.
This morning I successfully defended my thesis before my dissertation committee. What an experience!
The Defense Draft
On July 16 I delivered the final draft of my dissertation (called the defense draft) to my committee at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. The committee (Drs. Richard Averbeck, K. Lawson Younger, and T. Desimond Alexander) have about one month to review my dissertation. Then, on August 14 I defend my dissertation before my committee and peers. It was a rush of activity leading up to July 16 and it will be a rush of activity after August 14.
