We’re starting to be optimistic about the possibility of purchasing property for Narnia Elementary School. This last week we received two pieces of good news. One came as a result of the end of the third round of public bidding and the other was news about loan approval.
Round Three…
The city just finished the third round of public bidding for the school property we are hoping to purchase for Narnia Elementary School. This time the city did not specify a minimum bid but they were offering the property without the gymnasium. That would obviously create a problem for us so we did not enter a bid.
Round Four…
Fortunately, no acceptable offer was made and so the third round ended with no buyer. We’re hoping the city will open up yet one more round of bidding, this time with the gymnasium and with no minimum required bid. If they do, we’ll likely purchase the property. However, we’ve heard that the city has contemplated keeping the property and renting it rather than selling. That wouldn’t be the end of the world, but it wouldn’t be the ideal situation either.
Loan Approval
The second piece of news is that the school (or our congregation) has been approved for a loan in the amount of 700,000 Euros. That sum would allow us to purchase the property and pay off the loan with monthly payments that could be covered by the rental of the facilities. That’s great news! All we would need to do is come up with the cash difference between the purchase price and the loan amount. If you would like to make a contribution to help with that cash difference, please check out more information about fundraising for Narnia.
