Elisabeth has had some more opportunities to play her violin for various concerts and recitals this year. In November her music school held a 100 year celebration of two Slovak and Czech composers. For that concert Elisabeth played “Songs My Mother Taught Me” by Dvořak. Click through to see that video plus another with the performance that Elisabeth considers her best so far (coming soon).
The video above is from the first concert this year. In December she played Allegro Moderato – the first movement Sonatina in D minor, Op. 27 by another Czech composer named Zdeněk Fibich. She played that for her recital in December and for her music school’s Christmas concert. She considers her Christmas concert performance of that piece to be her best performance so far.
We’ve noticed a bit of a change in the way Elisabeth has been practicing lately. Instead of reminding her to practice her violin we now have to remind her to stop practicing violin and get going on her homework. Partly because of that and partly because she’s getting to the point that she can play some pretty interesting music, it’s getting to be more and more fun to watch her at concerts.
